Accompaniment Program
Every day in Phoenix, immigrants attend ICE check-ins — moments that can determine their future. With immigration enforcement intensifying, these check-ins carry deep uncertainty and risk.
Yet, many immigrants attend alone, without legal representation or community support.

Borderlands Resource Initiative and Puente Human Rights Movement believe that no one should face these moments in isolation. We’ve partnered to lead the Accompaniment Program, creating a community-led response to ensure support, connection, and advocacy for immigrants navigating this process.

Together, we are:
-
Ensuring a constant presence at ICE check-ins, and immigration court appearances so that no one has to attend these meetings alone.
-
Providing Know Your Rights information and pro se support to people attending court hearings.
-
Expanding emergency response for detained immigrants, including activating safety plans and mobilizing advocacy networks immediately when someone is taken into ICE custody.
-
Laying the groundwork for pro se legal clinics and case management, helping immigrants assert their rights and prevent unjust deportations.

In May 2025, ICE officers were told to meet a quota of
250
arrests per day
