PHOENIX, ARIZONA - Borderlands Resource Initiative, a border-based advocate for humane asylum policies and dignified reception of asylum seekers, has been selected as one of the participants in the prestigious Mockingbird Incubator program's Spring 2024 cohort.

Out of a pool of more than 250 highly competitive applicants, Borderlands Resource Initiative was announced as one of the 24 emerging non-profit organizations chosen to partake in this exclusive program. The Mockingbird Incubator program, renowned for its commitment to fostering innovation and sustainability in the non-profit sector, provides participants with invaluable resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities to accelerate their impact and drive positive change. The Incubator program is facilitated in partnership by Mockingbird Analytics and GiveButter, and is designed to empower activists and nonprofit leaders to create sustainable impact in their communities. This round's cohort focused on organizations with strong anti-oppression values and commitment to systemic social change.

"Being selected for the Mockingbird Incubator program is an honor, and an invaluable opportunity to build the strongest foundation possible for our new organization. Our entire team at Borderlands Resource Initiative understands that real change requires collaboration and collective action, and we prioritize building strong relationships with stakeholders, community leaders, and other organizations working towards similar goals. We are steadfast in advocating for humane asylum policies and bolstering support for dignified reception of asylum seekers," said Beth Strano, Executive Director. "We are thrilled to join this impressive cohort of non-profits and look forward to leveraging the resources and support provided by the program to further our mission of advocating for justice and dignity for asylum seekers."

As a participant in the Mockingbird Incubator program, Borderlands Resource Initiative will have access to tailored mentorship, capacity-building workshops, and connections to a network of industry leaders and experts. This opportunity will enable the organization to enhance its effectiveness, expand its reach, and deepen its impact on behalf of asylum seekers in the Southwest border region. Through collaboration, innovation, and collective action, they are poised to create lasting change and build a more just and equitable asylum process.
